HELPFUL INFORMATION
For many it may be important to know that Paraguay does not have bilateral tax agreements with any other country in the world nor does it provide information to other countries regarding persons living here regarding property ownership or their patrimonial situation!!!
There exists another determinant advantage - Paraguay allows the entry without restrictions of foreign currency, be it in cash or through bank transfers that someone wishes to make to their account in Paraguay. You will only need a letter of reference from a bank certifying that you were or continue being a client of said bank. The entry of cash amounts larger than us$ 10,000 must simply be declared when entering the country. Nobody but the local authorities have access to this declaration, it only serves to document the entry of the amount in the case of wanting to take it out of the country again as there are restrictions for taking national capital in cash out. Another of the advantages of this declaration of entering with cash (together with the reference letter from your bank) is that, when opening a bank account in Paraguay, you’ll be able to enter the amount into your new account without any problem.
The best settling region is Asuncion due to the best infrastructure, medical supply, services, businesses etc.
In Paraguay no matter whether you buy house or pencil, you mostly pay CASH! Credit or checking cards are very rarely accepted. Financing the purchase or construction of the house, etc. up to 20 years is possible e.g. via Banco Continental.
US Dollars of Series D are not accepted country wide. Do not bring them! In some place also Series CB are not accepted.
Opening business cost only small amount of money. You register your business and start working or you can even start working and after register the business. No penalty!

Owning a virgin land – no permission needed if you want to build a house there. Just preserve 30% of trees.
Any kind of land you may separate on smaller parts - no permission needed.
Having a construction lot – also no permission needed if you want to build a house there.
Registration of house only because of property tax /e.g. US$50 per year for house in the city/.
Real estate tax is levied annually at 1% of the cadastral value of property, as assessed by the national cadastre service. Assessed property values increase annually according to the consumer price index, but such increases cannot exceed 15% per annum.
This tax rate is reduced to 0.5% for rural properties smaller than five hectares used for small scale farming. In the case of rural properties, improvements or buildings are not computed in the tax base.
On your own land you can cultivate whatever you want. No special permissions needed.
House construction – from two up to five months.
Owning fire arms without problem. Sport Shooting on your own property allowed.
Driving license - US$10 fee. No test.
Car insurance – Full Casco is about US$600 per year. It is not necessary to have any kind of insurance, nor compulsorily /as we know from Europe, USA etc./.
One of the best health insurance - US$100 per month.
No driving limits. Sometimes drink and drive is "allowed".

Mains voltage: 220 V, 50 cycles per second.
Telephone: Direct distance dialing.
National pre-selection: 00,595. The telephone network is essentially limited to the larger Cities.
Mobile phone: GSM 850 and 1900 MHz. The transmission/reception range is generally speaking country taken off. Network users are CTI, personnel, Tigo and Vox Paraguay. It is advisable to bring along or buy a quart volume mobile phone here.
Internet/email: There are several Internet providers in the whole country. In good hotels gives it to Internet free of charge on the rooms. Internet cafes are available in the larger cities.
Post office: Air mail to Europe is usually working.
